Madonna Added to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Roster (Fashion Wire Daily)

New York - Madonna, The Dave Clark Five and Leonard Cohen were among the new inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at a ceremony at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York on Monday, March 10.

Madonna, who was presented with her award by Justin Timberlake (he recently collaborated with her on her forthcoming album "Hard Candy"), saw none other than Iggy and The Stooges, legends in their own right, perform her songs "Burnin Up" and "Ray of Light.

Sixties sensations The Dave Clark Five - Dave Clark, Lenny Davidson, Rick Huxley, Denis Payton and Mike Smith - were introduced by actor Tom Hanks. The band rose to popularity alongside other British Invasion groups from that era, including The Beatles and The Small Faces. Tragically, band member Mike Smith passed away on Feb. 28.

Lou Reed presented Leonard Cohen with his award, a singer-songwriter whose poetic lyrics and haunting vocal style has influenced countless musicians, including Reed.

Also honored by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation were Chicago blues legend Little Walter, John Mellencamp, Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff and The Ventures - Bob Bogle, Nokie Edwards, Gerry McGee, Mel Taylor and Don Wilson.

Inductees, who are eligible for the Hall of Fame 25 years after their first recording is released, were selected by a committee of 600 voters and will be commemorated with a year-long exhibit in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fames museum in Cleveland, Ohio.
