Los Angeles - Pretty women and handsome men graced the "Get Smart" red carpet at that retro comedys premiere at the Mann Village Theater in Westwood, Calif., on Monday night. Steve Carell, who takes over the role of Maxwell Smart originally made famous by Don Adams in the Sixties television series of the same name, looked dapper as he escorted his pretty wife Nancy Walls, while Anne Hathaway, his co-star as Agent 99, wowed the large crowd of fans assembled outside the theater in a sleek strapless black-and-silver cocktail dress accented with Neil Lane platinum earrings and moonstone ring.
Their handsome co-stars Dwayne Johnson, Terry Crews, Alan Arkin, and Masi Oka, joined them for the glittery premiere, as did a bevy of beautiful "Get Smart" female fans, including Carla Gugino, Brook Burke, Glada de Laurentiis, Kate Flannery, Jenna Fischer, and Katrina Smirnoff.
But on the set of "Get Smart," it was mostly an all-boys club, which suited star Anne Hathaway just fine.
"I feel like I was so indulged on the set every day, by these guys, being the only girl," she recalled at an earlier press conference to promote the film. "It was fun. Some days I felt like they were trying to be very polite around me, keep conversation nice, and a primmer environment, until I would just tell the dirtiest joke I could think of just to put everybody at ease!"
Hathaway kept on joking when she recalled a passionate on-screen kiss she shared with Steve Carell.
"Making out with Steve is like the yummiest sunshine, and wrapped around in a masculine wrapper," she giggled, then added that she tried to make him sick on the day of that on-screen clinch.
"I had a sinus infection and an eye infection at the same time. I had to go up to Steve, my eye is red, puffy, and dripping green. Im just snotty and I go Come here! and Steve didnt know I had it at the time. I had to call our producer that night and say, You might want to call Steve and let him know that I had pink eye, and my tears got in my mouth, so he might want to worry about that. So, it was very glamorous and I would do it again in a heart beat!"
Happily, she didnt infect her co-star, and the two partied late into the night at the massive after party, along with all the good-looking "Get Smart" aficionados who packed the theater and the party. The comedy opens everywhere on June 20.
Disco coffee table will light up your life... or house, anyway

I'm a sucker for pretty much all home decor that looks like it was inspired
by the 1970s disco era, but even I would draw the line at a flashing dance
floo...

Get Smart looks okay overall... but Steve Carell seems to be veering more and more toward a predictable, slapstick-style humor
